WHAT kind of a course an All India Service officer (IAS, IPS and Indian Forest Service) is being imparted during their in-service training? The service calendar of 2018-19 has a wide range of topics from the WTO and public procurement to Mahatma Gandhi as an approach for decision-making for the poor, rural and the marginalised. The one on Gandhi will be held in IIM-Ahmedabad in March this year. In-service trainings are week-long mandatory trainings. THE Central government has included Mahatma Gandhi’s “approach for decision-making for the poor, rural and the marginalised”, as a part of the curriculum for in-service training imparted to IAS and other All India Service officers, and also to Group "A" service officers during their central deputation tenure. Gandhian approach will be taught for a week in IIM-Ahmedabad for select officers with work experience of 12 to 20 years, a DoPT letter to union securities, issued last week, said. In fact, the upcoming 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation is being planned across the globe as a year-long event beginning October 2, 2018.

IAS officers will now be trained on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao at LBSNAA
