IAS officers will now be trained on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao at LBSNAA

THE ministry of women and child development is collaborating with Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, to train IAS officers on a variety of issues including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, gender budgeting etc. In a tweet recently, it said: “Ministry WCD to collaborate with #LBSNAA, Mussoorie, to impart training and sensitise IAS officers on issues pertaining to gender”. According to the ministry, the IAS  officers will be trained on 4 issues. Those are:

1. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao
2. Gender and Nutrition'
3. Gender Budgeting
4. Role and responsibilities of the National Commissions for Women.
After getting inducted the IAS officers are imparted training at LBSNAA.
In fact, the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao is a social campaign of the government of India that aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services. Gender Budgeting, on the other hand, is a powerful tool for achieving gender mainstreaming. It’s mainly to ensure that the benefits of development reach women as much as men. The rationale for gender budgeting arises from recognition of the fact that national budgets impact men and women differently through the pattern of resource allocation, according to the ministry’s website. Women, constitute 48% of India’s population, but they lag behind men on many social indicators like health, education, economic opportunities, etc., the official website adds.
It’s now felt that the IAS officers who in the district implement various schemes, need to be sensitised on the issues and also be trained.
