EARLY this week, the Central government empanelled eight officers belonging to Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA and AS) for holding posts of joint secretary or JS-equivalent at the Centre. All belong to 1996 batch. Here is the full list of the newly-empanelled joint secretaries:

2. Purushottam Tiwary
3. Vimalendra Anand Patwardhan
4. Pravindra Yadav
5. Tanuja Mittal
6. Anita Shah Akella
7. Anim Cherian
8. Ritika Bhatia
Meanwhile, in an unrelated development, the government has appointed 1992 batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS AK Bhutani as the CEO of Pradhan Mantri Fosal Bima Yojna (PMFBY) by temporarily upgrading one post of director to the level of joint secretary. Bhutani's tenure will be till May 9, 2020, according to the order.
