5 IAS officers of 1984, 1985 batches promoted as special secretaries; Full List

FIVE IAS officers, four of whom belonging to 1984 batch and one of the 1985 batch, got their promotion on Tuesday, as the competent authority approved the in-situ upgradation of the posts they held to the level of Special Secretary, with the immediate effect. THE Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Wednesday approved in-situ up-gradation of five IAS officers, all belonging to 1984 batch, to the level of special secretary by temporarily upgrading the posts held by them. Special secretaries are at a notch below union secretaries but their salary and perks are the same with that of secretaries. The officers who will now be special secretaries are the following:

Secretary empanelled 1983 batch IAS officers given special secretary rank; Bhaskar Khulbe is now Secretary to PM

ALL 1983 batch IAS officers who were already empanelled as union secretaries, are now designated as special secretaries with effect from July 29, 2016, by temporarily upgrading the posts held by the officers. According to rules, the moment the senior-most officer of the batch is appointed as secretary, all her batch mates empanelled as secretaries, get elevated to the rank of a special secretary. Special secretaries have the same rank as secretaries and receive the same salary as that of a secretary. Here are the newly elevated officers:

WITH effect from December 26, 2015, these three IAS officers of 1982 batch -- Amrendra Kumar Dubey (Kerala cadre), Ms Snehlata Shrivastava (Madhya Pradesh cadre) and Syed Md Andaleeb Razi (Uttar Pradesh cadre) were made special secretaries by temporarily upgrading the posts they held on that day. All these officers got empanelled as secretaries a little late, because of various reasons. But being special secretaries, they will now be eligible to be posted as secretaries in the forthcoming administrative reshuffle. Let’s know more about these 3 bureaucrats:

In next few months, these 26 IAS will be appointed as union secretaries; Full list of special secretaries

HERE is the complete list of IAS officers of 1981 batch who have been elevated to the posts of special secretaries with effect from October 16, 2014. According to rules, the moment one of the secretary-empanelled officers gets appointed as secretary, the rest get promotion as special secretaries, thereby allowing them to draw the same salary as that of a secretary (Rs 80,000 scale, plus perks).
