THREE days after a 2014 batch woman IAS officer was allegedly harassed in a court premise in Delhi’s Saket area, the IAS Association on Sunday said “action must be taken against the perpetrators of this cowardly and dangerous attack”. The incident took place on Thursday (January 10) when the woman IAS officer, presently posted in Mizoram, was allegedly harassed by a…
lawyer. Her husband, who was present during the incident, was physically assaulted by a group of lawyers, media reports said.
“Strongly condemn this assault on a IAS officer in court premises. Action must be taken against the perpetrators of this cowardly and dangerous attack”, said the IAS Association in a Tweet post on Sunday. The Association also tagged Delhi Police and Commissioner of Police, Delhi, to its social media post. It’s not, however, known whether the Association had written any formal complaint to Delhi Police regarding this.
An AGMUT cadre officer, the victim was earlier posted in Delhi. But it’s not known what triggered the incident when a group of men, believed to be lawyers, stopped their car and allegedly abused the lady officer. According to some reports, the couple came to the court to attend an ongoing case regarding a disputed property. Her husband, who was beaten up by the men, was to be treated in Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital.
An FIR was filed, and the case against one lawyer and his associates was already registered. No arrests have been made so far.
