Centre appoints 7 joint secretaries; List includes 5 IAS, 1 IPoS, 1 IRS-IT


THE Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) last week appointed seven joint secretaries. The joint secretary appointees include five IAS officers and two non-IAS —  1987 batch Indian Postal Service (IPoS) officer SC Barmma and 1992 batch IRS-IT officer Vikram Sahay. In case of two IAS officers, it's more of a shift of the departments rather than appointments afresh. Here is the full list of new officers:

1. Govind Mohan, 1989 batch Sikkim cadre IAS, presently working as joint secretary in the department of economic affairs, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of home affairs, on lateral shift basis.
2. Sunil Bharthwal, 1989 batch Bihar cadre IAS, presently working as a joint secretary in the ministry of steel, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of economic affairs, on lateral shift basis.
3. Lok Ranjan, 1989 batch Tripura cadre IAS, presently working as joint secretary in the department of financial services, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of personnel and training (DoPT).
4. SC Barmma, 1987 batch Indian Postal Service (IPoS) officer, presently working as joint secretary in the department of justice, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of culture.
5. Vikram Sahay, 1992 batch IRS-IT officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of information and broadcasting. 
6. Ms Punya Salila Srivastava, 1993 batch AGMUT cadre IAS, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of home affairs. 
7. Ms Bhawna Garg, 1999 batch Punjab cadre lAS, has been appointed as DDG (JS level) in UIDAI, RO, Chandigarh under the ministry of electronics and information technology.
