PM’s interaction with 170 young IAS officers; 10 Things to Know


PRIME Minister Narendra Modi stressed on the need for increasing people’s trust on governance when he had an interaction with 170 young IAS officers in New Delhi on Wednesday. Here are the 10 short takes on the interaction between the PM and the 2016 batch IAS officers:

1. All the young IAS officers who had an interaction with the PM on Wednesday belong to 2016 batch.
2. The officers are presently appointed in various central government ministries or departments as assistant secretaries, a relatively new post. 
3. The Prime Minister encouraged the young officers to share their experiences of field training, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). 
4. The areas that the PM discussed with the officers included good governance encompassing Jan Bhagidaari, information flows, optimal utilisation of resources etc.
5. PM further asked them to ensure that people always have trust in governance.
6. The other initiatives that came up for discussion included Gram Swaraj Abhiyan and Ayushman Bharat — two of the government’s recent initiatives. 
7. Minister of State in the PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh, and senior officials from the department of personnel and training (DoPT) were also present on the occasion.
8. Cabinet secretary PK Sinha was also present during the PM’s interaction with the young officers. 
9. The induction of the IAS officers in the Central government ministries immediately after their training programme in the Mussoorie's IAS academy, LBSNAA, is a new phenomenon, introduced only after the NDA government came to power.  
10. PM also tweeted about his meeting with the officers, saying: “Great interaction with young IAS officers who have recently been appointed Assistant Secretaries in the Government of India…”
