Gujarat cadre IAS Rajender Kumar laterally shifted from DoPT to PMO; IPS PS Purohit elevated as special director in IB


Rajender Kumar, 2004 batch Gujarat cadre IAS, presently a director in the department of personnel and training (DoPT), has been laterally shifted as director in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). His tenure will be till May 26, 2021, or until further order, a DoPT office memorandum issued on July 2, said. Central government on a deputation basis. He first joined the DoPT as a deputy secretary in May 2016. According to the information available on him, he is well versed with Sanskrit language too, in addition to English, Hindi and Gujarati. Kumar is 40 years old. 
Meanwhile, PS Purohit, 1985 batch Assam cadre IPS officer and additional director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB), has been promoted to the post of special director in IB. Purohit is a doctorate in chemistry (nuclear and radio chemistry) from IIT-Delhi. He is retiring next month.
Meanwhile, IRS-IT officer Pravin D Salunkhe has been appointed as deputy director in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on a deputation basis. 
In a separate development, Santosh Kumar Mohanty is deemed to have retired from IRS-IT service upon his appointment as a whole time member (WTM) in the stock market watchdog, SEBI. Another IRS-IT officer, TM Shivakumar, presently posted in Jalandhar, took voluntary retirement with effect from July 2, 2018.  
Late last week, the appointments committee of the cabinet (ACC) approved repatriation of 1987 batch AGMUT cadre IAS Vijay Kumar Dev, presently Director General, Training to his cadre. Also, 1985 batch Assam cadre IAS Saraswati Prasad, presently a special secretary in the ministry of steel, has been given additional charge of the post of the CMD, Steel
Authority of India Limited (SAIL).
