4 out of 5 newly-appointed joint secretaries are non-IAS; retired Patna HC chief justice is new CAT chief


THE government on Wednesday appointed five new joint secretaries, four of whom being non-IAS. NK Sudhansu, 2000 batch Maharashtra cadre lAS has been appointed as Professor (Economics), in LBSNAA, Mussoorie at the rank of a joint secretary. And then, Justice L Narasimha Reddy, retired chief justice of Patna High Court, has been appointed as new chairman of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). Here below are the details of the appointments:
1. Saurabh Endley, 1990 batch Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region in place of Arvind Madhav Singh, 1986 batch Assam cadre Indian Forest Service officer.
2. Bhushan Kumar Sinha, 1993 batch Indian Economic Service officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of financial services in place of Lok Ranjan, 1989 batch Manipur-Tripura cadre IAS.
3. Ms Sushma Taishete, 1988 batch Central Secretariat Service officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of justice in place of SC Sarmma, 1987 batch Indian Postal Service officer.
4. Ms Kalyani Chadha, 1988 batch Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of social justice and empowerment in place of Ms Aindri Anurag, 1988 batch Indian Postal Service officer.
5. NK Sudhansu, 2000 batch Maharashtra cadre lAS has been appointed as Professor (Economics), (JS level), LBSNAA, Mussoorie. 
Meanwhile, in another development, Justice L Narasimha Reddy, retired chief justice of Patna High Court, will be the new chief of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). The appointments committee of the cabinet (ACC) on Wednesday approved Justice Reddy’s appointment as chairman of CAT in the pay scale of Rs 2.5 lakh per month, i.e. equivalent to that of the cabinet secretary. The appointment is for a period of five years. The CAT is an important agency for lakhs of Central government employees as it adjudicates disputes and complaints with respect to recruitment and conditions of service of the employees. 
Also, CA Bodh, 1988 batch Indian Audit and Accounts Service officer, has been prematurely repatriated from NITI Aayog to his parent cadre.
