UNION home minister Rajnath Singh last week reminded the IAS officers that ego is like a decimal point which if added before a number reduces the value of that number. Singh said this while addressing the officer trainees of 92nd foundation course and participants of mid-career training programme for IAS officers (Phase-V) at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie. Here are the 5 key highlights of his speech at LBSNAA:

1. You (IAS officers) need to work hard to help the people. You have to create a sense of confidence among the people with your hard work.
2. You should not try to postpone the resolution of their (citizens’) problems.
3. Your approach should never be individual centric. Always be system centric.
4. Ego is like a decimal point which if added before a number reduces the value of that number.
5. You will become role model for others only when you adhere to high moral values. And you should always be cautious in public life.
