Name change trend by IAS officers continues; Vinita Vasdev Vaid turns Vinita Vaid Singal; Tina Kumar becomes Tina Soni

LAST week, the Central government permitted the change of names for two IAS officers — Ms Vinita Vasdev Vaid of 1996 batch and Dr Tina Kumar of 2007 batch —, thereby continuing the trend of name change by IAS officers across the country. Accordingly, Vinita Vasdev Vaid, who belongs to Maharashtra cadre, will now be known as Ms Vinita Vaid Singal for all official purposes. Similarly, Dr Tina Kumar, a 2007 batch Rajasthan cadre IAS will now be…
recognized as Dr Tina Soni for all official purposes, according to two separate notifications issued last year.
Vinita Vaid Singal, as she is known now, is 47 years old officer, originally hailing from Haryana. She had earlier served as the collector of Hingoli district and then as the managing director of Maharashtra State Tribal Development Corporation. She did MA in English literature before getting into IAS.
On the other hand, Tina Soni is 37 years old; originally belongs to Bihar, and was allotted Rajasthan cadre after getting into IAS. She, however, did her post-graduation in economics from Ajmer’s MD Saraswati University.
Meanwhile, the government last month permitted 2009 batch Uttarakhand cadre IAS Jyoti Neeraj Khairwal to change her name to Jyoti Yadav for all official purposes. “Smt. Jyoti Neeraj Khairwal, IAS (UD:2009) has been permitted to change her name from Smt. Jyoti Neeraj Khairwal to Smt. Jyoti Yadav. She will accordingly be recognized as Smt. Jyoti Yadav for all official purposes", the order said. A product of Daulatram College under Delhi University, Jyoti Yadav, as she is known now, originally belongs from Haryana. She is 36 years old.
