Know more about 17 secretaries, addl secretaries appointed in key ministries, PSUs

THE Centre last week appointed 17 senior bureaucrats in various key ministries and PSUs, the highlight being the appointment of Himachal Pradesh cadre IAS  Dr Asha Ram Sihag as secretary in the department of heavy industry and current establishment officer in DoPT and 1984 batch IAS Rajiv Kumar as secretary in the department of financial services. Meanwhile, N Baijendra Kumar of 1985 batch IAS will be the new CMD of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC). Here are the details of 17 new appointments:

1. Dr Asha Ram Sihag, 1983 batch Himachal Pradesh cadre IAS and secretary coordination in the cabinet secretariat, has been appointed as secretary in the department of heavy industry in place of Girish Shankar, a 1982 batch Bihar cadre IAS, who has just retired.
2. Rajiv Kumar, 1984 batch Jharkhand cadre IAS and special secretary and Establishment Officer, has been appointed as secretary in the department of financial services in in place of Ms Anjuly Chib Duggal, 1981 batch Punjab cadre IAS who retired on August 31.
3. Ms Surina Rajan, 1985 batch Haryana cadre IAS and additional secretary in the department of defence production, has been appointed as Director General in the Bureau of Indian Standards, in the rank and pay of additional secretary to Government of India.
4. Dr Inder Jit Singh, 1985 batch Kerala cadre IAS and additional secretary in the department of commerce, has been appointed as additional secretary (coordination) in the cabinet secretariat.
5. Surendra Nath Tripathi, 1985 batch Odisha cadre IAS and additional secretary and development commissioner in ministry of micro small and medium enterprises, has been appointed as additional secretary and financial adviser in the department of agriculture, cooperation and farmers welfare in place of Sunil Kumar Singh, 1983 batch Bihar cadre IAS.
6. Dr N Baijendra Kumar, 1985 batch Chhattisgarh cadre IAS, presently in the cadre, has been appointed as chairman and managing director of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) which comes under the ministry of steel.
7. Ms Veena Ish, 1985 batch Andhra Pradesh cadre IAS and member (administration) in the National Highways Authority of India, has been appointed as additional secretary in the department of land resources.
8. Ms Rajni Sekhri Sibal, 1986 batch Haryana cadre IAS, presently in the cadre, has been appointed as Director General, employment and training under the ministry of labour and employment, in the rank and pay of additional secretary to government of India.
9. Pradip Kumar Tripathi, 1987 batch Jammu and Kashmir cadre IAS and additional secretary in the department of personnel and training, has been appointed as Establishment Officer and additional secretary.
10. Rajesh Bhushan, 1987 batch Bihar cadre IAS and joint secretary in the department of rural development, has been appointed as additional secretary in the cabinet secretariat in place of Alok Tandon, 1986 batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS, on his repatriation to the cadre.
11. Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi, 1987 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS  and chairman in the Central Board of Secondary Education, has been appointed as Director General in National Skill Development Agency (NSDA), in the rank and pay of additional secretary to Government of India.
12. Satyajeet Rajan, 1987 batch Kerala cadre IAS, presently in the cadre, has been appointed as Director General, tourism, in the rank and pay of additional secretary to Government of India.
13. Rameswhar Prasad Gupta, 1987 batch Gujarat cadre IAS and MD of NAWADCO, has been appointed as additional secretary in the NITI Aayog. The officer will continue to hold additional charge of the post of MD in NAWADCO until further orders.
14. Ali Raza Rizvi, 1988 batch Himachal Pradesh cadre IAS and additional secretary in the department of commerce, has been appointed as additional secretary and financial adviser in the ministry of information and broadcasting, in place of Subhas Sharma, 1984 batch Bihar cadre IAS. The earlier order of appointing Rizvi as CMD of NMDC stands cancelled.
15. Apurva Chandra, 1988 batch Maharashtra cadre IAS, presently in the cadre, has been appointed as additional secretary in the department of defence production, in place of Ms Surina Rajan, 1985 batch IAS on her appointment as Director General, Bureau of Indian Standards.
16. Ms Anita Karwal, 1988 batch Gujarat cadre IAS and additional secretary in the ministry of human resources development, has been appointed as chairperson in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). 
17. Vinod Kumar Yadav, 1990 batch IRSEE (Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers) officer, presently in the cadre, has been appointed as additional secretary in the ministry of statistics and programme Implementation.
