Govt approves cadre change of Shashvat Saurabh on grounds of marriage; Tapan Ray given additional charge of DEA

THE government has accorded its nod in cadre change of Shashvat Saurabh, 2016 batch Sikkim cadre IAS from Sikkim cadre to AGMUT cadre on grounds of marriage to Ms Soumya, a 2014 batch AGMUT cadre IAS. Also, the Central government has approved the proposal for cadre change of Rohitashva Singh Tomar, 2016 batch Tripura cadre IAS from Tripura cadre to Rajasthan cadre on grounds of…
PH (Physically Handicapped) policy dated February 14, 2014. According to the notification, the powers under which Tomar’s cadre was changed, were conferred by sub-rule (2) of Rule 5 of the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954.
In case of Shashvat Saurabh’s cadre change from Sikkim cadre to AGMUT on grounds of marriage to Ms Soumya of AGMUT cadre, the Centre took the call only after the concurrence of the state government of Sikkim and the ministry of home affairs (cadre controlling authority for AGMUT) was received. Saurabh, 29, originally hails from Rajasthan and was allotted the Sikkim cadre after getting selected as an IAS.
Interestingly, there are three IAS officers of 2016 bearing the name Saurabh, the other two being Saurabh Katiyar of Maharashtra cadre and Saurabh Gaharwar of Uttarakhand cadre.
Ms Soumya, hailing from Delhi, is 27 years old. She is a product of IIT-Delhi with a specialization on textile technology.
Meanwhile, the Central government has decided to continue with Tapan Ray, 1982 batch Gujarat cadre IAS and current corporate affairs secretary, as part-time secretary of the department of economic affairs (DEA) that comes under the ministry of finance. Incumbent DEA secretary Shaktikanta Das, currently on extension, is retiring at the end of this month, and the government by an order gave additional charge of the post of secretary, DEA, to Ray until further order.
