10 things on Central government vacancies, recruitment and investigations

HERE are a few facts you may like to know: There are whopping 6,00,013 vacancies in the Central government now. So far as IAS is concerned, there are currently 1,480 vacancies. Out of those, UP tops with 135 vacancies followed by West Bengal (119) and Madhya Pradesh (105). BoI picks out 10 pieces of statistics on vacancies in Central government, steps taken to recruit new personnel and also on investigations pending against officers:1. Total vacancies in the Central government are whopping 6 lakh
2. Out of those, 12,909 vacancies are in the Group A category
3. As high as 5,46,011 vacancies exist in Group C (non-gazetted)
4. So far as IAS is concerned, there are 1,480 vacancies. Out of those, UP tops with 135 vacancies followed by West Bengal (119), Madhya Pradesh (105), Bihar (90), Jharkhand (84).
5. IAS vacancies in some of the other states are as follows: Andhra Pradesh (78), AGMUT (78), Rajasthan (75), Tamil Nadu (67), Maharashtra (62), Karnataka (60) and Kerala (60). All those figures were released by minister of state for personnel V Narayanasamy in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
6. “The government has gradually increased the annual intake of IAS officers under Direct Recruitment Quota,” says the minister.
7. So far as the promotion quota is concerned, the government says, it has taken prompt action for holding selection committee meetings for the appointment by promotion or selection of state service officers to the IAS.
8. According to information provided by CBI, 65 cases are pending under investigation or inquiries against 19 IAS, 1 IPS and 67 other Allied Central services personnel as on October 31, 2013.
9. Also, 180 cases are pending under trial against 154 IAS, 15 IPS and 102 other Allied Central services personnel.
10. 24 IAS, 7 IPS and 16 other Allied Central services personnel have been convicted during the last three years i.e. 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 (upto October 31, 2013).
