Patnaik repatriated; Goa chief secretary SK Srivastava is new DDA vice chairman

SK Srivastava, a 1980 batch UT cadre IAS and chief secretary of Goa, has been named as vice chairman, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in the rank and pay of additional secretary. Srivastava has replaced his own batch-mate GS Patnaik who is incidentally repatriated to the parent cadre. Patnaik, a straightforward officer, was ousted because…
he had reportedly opposed to some of the policies initiated by urban development minister Kamal Nath.
Only a few days ago, a media report quoting sources said Nath was unhappy with Patnaik as the latter had opposed the farm house policy, regularization of affluent colonies like Sainik Farms etc. There are rumours that Patnaik might be sent to Arunachal Pradesh.
New DDA vice chairman Srivastava is an MSc in botany and is also an MBA. He has five more years to retire unlike Patnaik who is superannuating in October next year. Srivastava has been chief secretary of Goa for the last three years. He had earlier served as a joint secretary in the Central department of food and distribution on a deputation.

  1. At the beginning of the UPA-I government, then Union commerce and industry minister Kamal Nath had some problems with one of his secretaries. The bureaucrat had to go. Nath had his way in removing him.
