Government clarifies on encashment of earned leaves for re-employed pensioners

THE government has clarified that re-employed pensioner will be entitled to encashment of Earned Leave along with Leave Travel Concession (LTC) during the period of re-employment upto the limit of 60 days. The department of personnel and training (DoPT) has issued a clarification regarding it after a number of inquiries were made by various ministries or departments regarding an earlier circular (dated September 23, 2008) allowing encashment of earned leaves by re-employed pensioners.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated development on Thursday, senior BJP leader LK Advani said that army personnel have not received any enhanced pensions despite claims by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh that enhancement of pension to army personnel has been implemented.
The BJP leader cited a letter from Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement (IESM) which claimed that the government order dated July 6, 2009 about enhancement of pension for army personnel has not been honoured so far.
