7 officers including 3 non-IAS appointed as additional secretaries or equivalent; 7 IES officers empanelled as JS


THE government on Friday announced the following seven additional secretary level appointments:
1. Ms Amita Prasad, 1985 batch Karnataka cadre IAS, has been appointed as chairperson of Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI).
2. Ms Jyoti Arora, 1987 batch Haryana cadre IAS, has been appointed as additional secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
3. Arun Kumar Jha, 1985 batch Indian Economic Service (IES) officer, has been appointed as Director General in National Productivity Council, at the rank and pay of additional secretary.
4. Bharat Lal, 1988 batch Gujarat cadre IAS, has been appointed as additional secretary in the department of drinking water and sanitation.
5. Indevar Pandey, 1988 batch West Bengal cadre IAS, has been appointed as additional secretary in the ministry of development of North Eastern region.
6. Rajesh Verma, 1987 batch Odisha cadre IAS, has been appointed as additional secretary in the department of agriculture, cooperation and farmers’ welfare.
7. Shashank Priya, 1988 batch Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise) officer, has been appointed as additional secretary in the ministry of commerce and industry. 
In another development, Vivek Kumar, 2004 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, presently serving as director in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), has been appointed as private secretary to PM.
Also, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Ajay Bhadoo, 1999 batch Gujarat cadre IAS, as joint secretary to the President for a tenure co-terminus with the President.
Meanwhile, eight Indian Economic Service (IES) officers — all belonging to 1996 batch— were last week empanelled as Union joint secretary or joint secretary equivalent. They are:

b) Aparna Bhatia
c) Antony Cyriac
d) A Srija
e) Simmi Chaudhary
f) Dinesh Kapila
g) Geetu Joshi
h) PK Abdul Kareem
