NSA Ajit Doval given the rank of a cabinet minister

NATIONAL Security Adviser (NSA), Ajit Doval, who is credited with perfectly strategising the surgical trikes of 2016 and then the Balakot airstrikes in Pakistan on February 26 this year, has been elevated to the rank of a Union cabinet minister, the newly-installed Modi Sarkar-2 announced on today (Monday). NSA is usually given the rank of an MoS rank and is required to co-ordinate with various security-related ministries and agencies, but it’s…
unprecedented that an NSA is bestowed with the rank of a cabinet minister.
Doval, who has been the country’s NSA since 2014, will continue for another five years. His continuation and the promotion are in recognition to his contributions in the national security domain, according to a government announcement.
A highly decorated police officer of Kerala cadre, Doval retired as director of Intelligence Bureau (IB) in 2005. He has many an achievement in the past, but what has been talked about the most is his seven years long undercover stay in Lahore as a Pakistani Muslim, something that earns him the reputation of a super-spy. Many in the corridors of power and elsewhere compare him with Hollywood character, James Bond.
