10 new GoI additional secretaries appointed; 5 IAS, 5 from other services; Full List


THE government last week appointed 10 new union additional secretaries. Of the 10 officers, five belong to IAS, three from Indian Audit and Account Service, and one each from IFoS and IRS-IT. Here below is the full list:
1. Sanjay A. Chahande, 1988 batch Maharastra cadre IAS and Deputy Director General of UIDAI in Mumbai, has been appointed as Textile Commissioner, ministry of textiles at the rank of union additional secretary. 
2. Bharat Lal, 1988 batch Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer and joint secretary to the President of India, has been promoted as additional secretary to President of India. 
3. Ravi Agrawal, 1988 batch Indian Revenue Service-Income Tax officer and joint secretary in the department of investment and public asset management under the ministry of finance, has been appointed as additional secretary in the ministry of environment, forests and climate change. 
4. Ms. Annie George Mathew, 1988 batch Indian Audit and Account Service officer, presently a joint secretary in the department of expenditure, has been promoted as additional secretary in the same department. The department of expenditure is one of five departments under the ministry of finance. 
5. Ms. Meenakshi Sharma, 1988 batch Indian Audit and Account Service officer, presently an Additional Director General of Tourism, has been promoted as Director General (Tourism).
6. Ms. Meera Swarup, 1988 batch Indian Audit and Account Service officer, presently a joint secretary and financial adviser in the department of expenditure, has been promoted as additional secretary and financial adviser in the same department. 
7. Sandeep Saxena, 1989 batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS and deputy Election Commissioner of India, will now have the rank of a Union additional secretary to the Government of India. 
8. Vijoy Kumar Singh, 1990 batch Punjab cadre IAS, presently a joint secretary in the department of personnel and training (DoPT), has been appointed as additional secretary and financial adviser of the ministry of textiles. 
9. Anurag Agarwal, 1990 batch Punjab cadre IAS and joint secretary in the ministry of corporate affairs, has been appointed as additional secretary and financial adviser in the ministry of power. 
10. Arun Baroka, 1990 batch AGMUT cadre IAS, presently a joint secretary in the ministry of drinking water and sanitation, has been appointed as additional secretary in the same department.
