Meet 3 IAS toppers, 2019: Kanishak Kataria, Akshat Jain and Junaid Ahmad


HERE are three toppers of the UPSC, 2019, — Kanishak Kataria and Akshat Jain, both belonging to Rajasthan — and Junaid Ahmad from Uttar Pradesh. Who are they, and what are the secret of their success:

Kanishak Kataria 
1. He was ranked first among 759 officers selected. 
2. A computer science engineer from IIT-Bombay, Kataria belongs to Rajasthan.
3. He is the son of IAS officer, Sanwar Mal Verma, who is presently working in the revenue department in Jaipur.
What Kataria told Media: I didn’t expect to get the first rank. I thank my parents, sister and my girlfriend for their support. 

Akshat Jain
1. Jain, also belonging to Rajasthan, got the All India Rank—2. 
2. A graduate from IIT Guwahati specialising design, Jain, 23, is son of DC Jain, joint director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Mrs Simmi Jain, Indian Revenue Service officer.
3. He has an experience in working in Samsung R&D Institute Bengaluru.
What Jain told Media: I studied a lot, but I was not working like a machine.

Junaid Ahmad
1. Hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s Nagina, Ahmad stood 3rd in the UPSC list. 
2. For Ahmad, 27, it was the fifth attempt. He got 352nd rank last year and was on a probation as IRS-IT. 
3. Ahmad's mother, Ayesha Razaa, is an advocate by profession. 
What Ahmad told Media: Internet has helped me a lot.
