Gujarat IAS Ananya Das transferred to Odisha on grounds of marriage to Muhammed Abdaal Akhtar


Ananya Das, 2015 batch Gujarat cadre IAS, has been transferred from Gujarat cadre to Odisha cadre on grounds of marriage to Muhammed Abdaal Akhtar, 2015 batch Odisha cadre IAS. Ms Das did an internship with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and then served as a software engineer in Oracle in 2013-14. In an interaction with some students, something which is available in the YouTube videos, she is heard saying the following: “Success is not accidental, it comes with focus and concerted preparations”. In 2017, she worked in the Centre’s women and child development ministry as an assistant secretary, according to records available with the DoPT.
Akhtar, on the other hand, belongs to Odisha itself, and was allotted the home cadre. He is 27 years old. He was a lawyer before getting selected into IAS.
In Twitter, he describes himself as someone who is interested in Railways, food, history, Urdu and aviation.
In July-September 2017, he served as an assistant secretary in the department of commerce. Since October 2018, he has been the project director in the state’s rural development agency based in Koraput, a beautiful part of the state of Odisha.
