IB’s special director and IPS Arvind Kumar granted apex pay scale


Arvind Kumar, 1984 batch Assam cadre IPS officer presently serving as special director in Intelligence Bureau (IB), has been granted apex pay scale (level-17 of pay matrix). In an order issued on Thursday, it was said that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the proposal of the ministry of home affairs for granting the apex pay scale to the officer. secretary, Government of India. A GoI secretary, for the record, receives a monthly salary of Rs 2.25 lakh, apart from availing other perks such as official accommodation, a car and a driver. The cabinet secretary is paid higher, at Rs 2.5 lakh per month. 
In another development, the ACC has approved the appointment of Tushar Mehta, Senior Advocate, as Solicitor General of India with effect from the date of assumption of charge of office for a period till June 30, 2020, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Necessary communications in this regard were sent to the department of legal affairs. 
Also, MR Ranjit Karthikeyan has been appointed as non-official independent director on the board of Electronics Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL), agency that comes under the administrative control of the department of atomic energy. Karthikeyan’s appointment is for a period of three years.
