Revenue secretary Hasmukh Adhia is on leave; expenditure secretary Ajay Narayan Jha given additional charge


FINANCE secretary and 1981 batch Gujarat cadre IAS Hasmukh Adhia is on leave for 10 days between May 5 and 15, 2018, for which the government last week approved the assignment of additional charge of the post of secretary, department of revenue, to Ajay Narayan Jha, a 1982 batch Manipur cadre lAS and secretary in the department of expenditure. Adhia is the revenue secretary and being the most senior officer, he is also the finance secretary of the ministry. post of cabinet secretary in case the present cabinet secretary PK Sinha fails to get an extension beyond June 12, 2018, the day he completes three years as the top bureaucrat of the country. The reason why Adhia is on leave is not known.
Meanwhile, the government has given additional charge of the post of secretary, ministry of earth sciences to Prof Ashutosh Sharma, secretary, the department of science and technology with effect from May 5, 2018 to May 14, 2018 during the leave of secretary M Rajeevan. 
Also, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) last week approved the proposal of the ministry of housing and urban affairs for extension of Central deputation tenure of Dharmendra, 1989 batch AGMUT cadre IAS and joint secretary in the ministry of housing and urban affairs for a period of three months beyond April 30, 2018, in relaxation of the policy.
In another appointment related news, the Central deputation tenure of Ashish Kumar Bhutani,1992 batch Assam cadre lAS and joint secretary in the department of agriculture, cooperation and farmers welfare, has been extended for three months beyond May 9, 2018. 
In another development, President of India gave his nod in appointing Smt. M Sathiyavathy
as Member, Union Public Service Commission with effect from the afternoon of April 9,
2018, for a period of six years or until she attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
