Babu Marriage: How can Krittika Jyotsna write her IAS husband’s batch wrong? A typo?

AS recorded in the minutes of a DoPT meeting held under the chairmanship of secretary Sanjay Kothari on Monday, 2014 batch IAS Krittika Jyotsna wrote her husband’s batch wrong in an application of her request for inter cadre transfer on the grounds of marriage to UP cadre IAS Rahul Pandey. “The Committee noted that Shri Rahul Pandey, IAS (UP:2014) belongs to 2014 batch not 2013 as indicated in the application of the officer”, say...
Minutes of the meeting held under the chairmanship of Secretary(P) on Monday to consider the cases of inter cadre deputation/extension of deputation/inter cadre transfer, something which was released on DoPT’s official website for everyone to see. The committee noted that Jyotsna belongs to Hyderabad district of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, so her home state is Telangana as per information given by the officer in detailed application form to UPSC. “The Committee directed to seek the comments of concerned states i.e. Telangana and Uttar Pradesh. Thereafter, on receipt of requisite no objection/consent, the proposal may be put up for approval of Secretary (P) through EO &AS” (Establishment Officer and Additional Secretary), the Minutes further state.
According to executive record sheets available with DoPT, 29-year-old Jyotsna belongs to Andhra Pradesh cadre. 2014 batch UP cadre IAS Rahul Pandey is also 29-year-old.
Meanwhile, the proposal for extension of inter cadre deputation period of 2001 batch Kerala cadre IAS Sanjay Kaul from Kerala to Gujarat cadre for further 2 years, will be considered only in the next meeting. “The Committee was informed that the officer has requested for extension for inter cadre deputation for a period of further 2 years beyond 5 years of permissible limit in relaxation of extant guidelines. “The Committee directed that the proposal of the officer may again be put up in the next meeting with all such precedents”, the Minutes state.
Another proposal that was put on hold on Monday’s meeting that of 2010 batch Assam cadre IAS Karuna Kumari who applied for inter-cadre deputation on compassionate grounds. “…the required period of 6 yrs in the instant case is going to be completed in January 2016. The Committee directed to seek comments of the concerned states meantime with a copy marked to the officer,” the meeting decided.

  1. IAS officers are known to be liars. Some have been jailed in 2G scam, coal scam and major corruption issues in India.

    Padma Vibushan Verghese Kurien and Parma Vibushan NR Narayana Murthy have earlier called for abolition of the IAS cadre.

  4. Mistakes can happen. Imagine the new Lokpal Act which requires details of even working Spouse's; a government servant will be punished if wife makes similar kind of mistake in reporting property. It is draconian law.
