Govt looks for suitable candidates for the post of PESB chairperson; private company CEOs can also apply

THE Central government issued an advertisement to scout for suitable candidates for two key posts -- chairperson and member in Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), a government agency that interviews and selects the chairman and managing director (CMD) and directors of Central public sector enterprises or PSUs. two years of that position may apply for the posts. The PESB chairman’s post will lie vacant in the month of August and that of the Member will be in September this year. On Tuesday, the joint secretary (establishment) of DoPT wrote to all union secretaries and state chief secretaries informing them about the vacancies and asking them to give "wide publicity" in their departments or state.
Here are 4 eligibility criteria for the post of PESB Chairperson and Member.
1. The applicant should not be less than 55 years of age.
2. If working or having worked in the Central or state government, should have held a post equivalent to the secretary to the Government of India at least for one year.
3. If holding or having held a post in any Central/state public sector undertakings or private sector, the applicant should have occupied a post at the level of Chairman-cum-Managing Director or Managing Director at least for a period of two years on a regular basis.
4. Should have experience in selection of top management personnel.
The Chairperson and Member in PESB hold office for a term of three years subject to the age limit of 65 years.
And the selected persons for both the posts will get the rank and pay of a secretary to the Government of India. Currently, a union secretary gets a monthly basic salary of Rs 80,000, i.e. with current 113% of dearness allowance, the actual salary comes to Rs 170,400 per month. The car, driver, bungalow and other perks are extra. The last date of application is July 30, 2015.
