Fake IAS Ruby Choudhary arrested, finally. 10 developments of big LBSNAA drama

ON FRIDAY night, Ruby Choudhary -- the woman who posed as an IAS officer and illegally stayed at Mussoorie’s Lal Bahadur Shastri Administrative Academy (LBSNAA) for over six months-- was arrested by Uttarakhand police, and a case of cheating, forgery and impersonating a public servant was registered against her. The internal probe has given a clean chit to Academy’s deputy director and 2002 batch Kerala cadre IAS Saurabh Jain, who as Ms Chaudhry claimed, had received Rs 5 lakh in advance for giving her a job at the institute. In a statement, as was reported by media, Jain rubbished the allegation as baseless. Here are 10 things about the LBSNAA's developing story:

1. Chowdhary, a married woman from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, reportedly became “obsessed” with the idea of becoming an IAS after she had failed to clear civil services examinations.
2. She somehow managed to fake her identity, sometime as an IAS, sometime as an employee of the LBSNAA library, to reside inside the Academy for about six months.
3. She stayed in a Type-1 residential quarter of one Deb Singh, a guard of LBSNAA, for which she paid Singh a monthly rent of Rs 1,500. Singh has been arrested.
4. But how was the fraud detected? In fact, the security staff of President Pranab Mukherjee found out that Chowdhary’s ID card was fake when they scrutinized the list of IAS probationers staying at LBSNAA. The President is to visit the academy later this month.
5. Ms Choudhary admitted the fraud. The room where she was staying was sealed but only four days later, an FIR was filed. Incidentally, she was not arrested immediately after the incident, and was asked to leave the campus.
6. The story turned bigger as Ms Choudhary approached the media and narrated many an event inside the campus and also accused deputy director Jain of helping her get an entry pass to the academy.
7. She also accused Jain of asking for a bribe of Rs 20 lakh to get her a librarian's job. She claimed she had paid him Rs 5 lakh in advance. Jain refuted the allegation as baseless.
8. The lady also told reporters that she would commit suicide if no action was taken against the officer. That probably promoted the police to finally arrest the imposter.
9. Choudhary’s father accompanied her to the Academy in Mussoorie and said, he signed all the documents she wanted him to sign. He, however, did not go inside the quarter where she was living. The entire family was thrilled that she was selected as an "IAS".
10. Ruby’s husband Vijender Singh is a property dealer located in Meerut. They met in Ghaziabad over working out a property deal last year and then got married without the wishes of her parents.

  3. If he is not aware of her then some officer senior to Mr.Jain must have done the mischief. Truth has been buried by the powers. The IAS never punishes IAS. The ministers are also never bothered.
