Batchmates Are Back: Know about Rajnath Singh’s OSD Nitesh Jha and oil minister’s PS Binay Srikanta Pradhan

THE Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by prime minister has approved the proposal of appointing 2002 batch Uttarakhand cadre IAS Nitesh Kumar Jha as Officer on Special Duty to union home minister Rajnath Singh days after putting on hold the appointment of an IPS officer, Alok Singh, as his private secretary. Binay Srikanta Pradhan, 2002 batch IFS
Hailing from Odisha, Binay Srikanta Pradhan did his schooling from government-run RBD High School, Angul. Before getting into IFS, he did his masters from Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Being a deputy secretary working in PAI (Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran) division of the ministry of external affairs, Pradhan has a fair understanding of the oil sector, and could be an asset for his minister Pradhan. Earlier, Pradhan had served as the first secretary in High Commission of India in Islamabad.

A post graduate in chemistry, Jha originally hails from Bihar. A 2002 batch IAS, Jha has been working as secretary in Uttarakhand’s education department. It will be his first posting at the Centre. He was allotted Manipur-Tripura cadre first, but was in Sikkim on deputation. In July 2009, the government in an order said, the proposal for inter cadre transfer of Nitish Kumar Jha, IAS (Manipur-Tripura, 2002) and Ms Radhika Jha, IAS (Sikkim, 2002) from their respective parent cadres to Uttarakhand cadre was approved.
