who was a doctor before getting into IAS, is finally back in Delhi.
Till the day of Holi, the Indian festival of colours, Teotia had all reasons to be happy. She was then an assistant collector in Gwalior district, and was expecting a baby. Then came the shocking news of her life that her husband, a young fearless police officer, was brutally killed when he had chased a tractor loaded with illegal mines. There was a buzz that the mining lobby in the state was upset the way Narendra Kumar was waging a battle against illegal mining for months. So, there was a reason to believe that it was a planned murder, remote-controlled by the powerful mining mafia of the state.
A CBI enquiry was conducted. The investigating agency however found that the officer’s death was a mishap. The CBI in its charge-sheet slapped Sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 353 (obstructing government work) of the IPC and Section 181 of the Motor Vehicle Act against the sole accused Manoj Kumar Gujjar who ran his tractor-trolley over Kumar. The accused may get a 10-year jail term or even life imprisonment.
BoI wishes all the best to Dr Madhu Rani Teotia for her future endeavour.
