Filing an RTI application could be just a phone call away. How?

RTI could soon be just a phone call away. And you may not even bother to buy postal order or demand draft when file your application through a proposed Call Centre, as the RTI fee would be added to your telephone bill. Here is the proposal...
With the government asking for proposals from private players to set up a Call Centre-cum-Portal for receiving RTI applications and appeals, receiving government information through Right To Information Act could be easier. According to plans as mentioned in Request for Proposal (RFP), the citizens could both file RTI and track the appeals too through the Call Centre-cum-Portal.
Of late, the government has become nervous as there was a 30 to 35% increase in number of RTI applications per year. The proposed system is expected to lower the pressure on government manpower handling RTI applications every day.
