FOR those eyeing top jobs in Indian public sector undertaking (PSUs), here is the bad piece of news first. The PSUs such Triveni Structurals Ltd. (TSL) and Hindustan Photo Films Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (HPF) have decided not to appoint full-fledged chairman cum managing directors (CMDs), at least for now, citing poor financial health of the companies. But in PSUs like Tyre Corporation of India Limited (TCIL) and Cement Corporation of India Ltd. (CCI), the process of appointing CMDs have begun.
As was stated by Arun Yadav, minister of state for heavy industries and public enterprises in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, AK Jain, CMD, Bharat Pumps and Compressors Ltd, will continue to hold additional charge of CMD, TSL as well as Tungabhadra Steel Products Ltd. (TSPL). In HPF, a decision has been taken not to fill up the CMD post on a regular basis and manage the post of CMD, HPF through additional charge. Currently, Director (F), HPF is holding the additional charge of CMD.
Yet, in some other PSUs, the process of appointment has begun. In case of Tyre Corporation of India Limited (TCIL), a proposal for appointment of CMD has been submitted to DoPT. There too, Director (F), is holding the additional charge of CMD. For CMD’s post in Hindustan Salts Ltd. (HSL) too, the process of appointment has just begun. For CMD’s post in Cement Corporation of India Ltd. (CCI), PESB recommended the names of two persons, and CVC clearances have been obtained, the minister informed the House.
Vacancies in Railway Hospitals
There are currently 70 vacancies of doctors in 125 Railway hospitals across the country, a government release said. And out of 586 health units in railways, only 17 health units have vacancies of doctors. Significantly, short term vacancies in hospitals and health units are being managed by taking doctors on contract basis.
