3 IPS, 1 CRPF officer appointed in CBI; 4 DIG-ranked officers get extension; Bihar govt declines cadre clearance to one CBI officer

THE government has appointed three IPS officers and one belonging to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as superintendent of police (SP) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Further, the tenure of four CBI officers of DIG rank, was extended whereas the premier investigative agency has relieved the duty of another IPS officer as the Bihar government had declined cadre clearance for his extension. First here is the list of four newly-appointed CBI officers:

1. Mohit Gupta, 2006 batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IPS
2. Mohd Suvez Haque, 2005 batch Maharashtra cadre IPS
3. PSC Kalyan, 2009 batch Tamil Nadu cadre IPS
4. Manoj Verma, Second-in Command, CRPF
In another development, four IPS officers working in the rank of DIG in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have been given extension. DIG, for the record, is a notch higher than SP in police hierarchy. The officers whose tenure have been extended are:
a) Jasbir Singh, DIG, 2003 batch Nagaland cadre IPS
Extension till July 31, 2020 (7 years in total)
b) Manish Kumar Sinha, DIG, 2000 batch Andhra Pradesh cadre IPS
Extension till November 11, 2020 (7 years in total)
c) Ms Harshita Attaluri, DIG, 2002 batch Kerala cadre IPS
Extension till June 30, 2019
d) CH Nagaraju, DIG, 2003 batch Kerala cadre IPS
Extension till June 30, 2019
However, another CBI officer — Sujeet Kumar, 2006 batch Bihar cadre IPS— was relieved by the CBI as the state government of Bihar had denied his cadre clearance.
