IES/ISS 2015 Results: One day, corridors’ top economists and statistical officers will all be women

AFTER the civil services exam results declared in June this year where women candidates bagged four out of five top slots, here is another example of woman power at full display. The women candidates bagged the first three positions in both the Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (IIS) exam 2015, the results which were announced on Wednesday night. 11 candidates are women, implying that a day will come when top economists in the corridors will be all women. In ISS, the results show almost a 50:50 selection of men and women, but so far as the toppers are concerned, the first 14 successful candidates (out of 50) were all women: They are Dona Francis, Priyanka Sethi, Apeksha Agarwal, Anshika Bhatnagar, Richy Rachel Mathew, Jasleen Kaur Rekhi, Shipra Shrivastava, Priyanka Kumari, Ayushi, Shruti Pandey, Sutapa Ghosh, Tuhina Das, Ishita Das and Aashtha Dwivedi.
In other words, Piyush Kumar Pathak -- the male topper in Indian Statistical Service this year stood only at the 15th position.
