Grammy winner Ricky Kej pays tribute to IAS DK Ravi; Court asks CID not to publish report

GRAMMY-award winner Ricky Kej who came into limelight for his album “Winds of Samsara” has paid a moving tribute to 2009 batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer DK Ravi by dedicating a heart-touching Kannada song that in English means – Fill every heart with new colours. Kej’s tribute apart, it was an eventful Sunday as the Karnataka high court ordered the CID not to publish any interim report on its inquiry into the mysterious death of Ravi who was found hanging at his Bengaluru residence a week ago. The order is significant, as parts of the CID report were leaked to a section of media which published reports linking Ravi with a woman batch-mate of his belonging to the same cadre. It was reported that the woman IAS, who is married, told…
unnamed CID sleuths that Ravi wanted to marry her. Some initial news reports even named the woman officer, and those who did not, too created confusions as there are only three woman IAS officers of his batch in the state of Karnataka.
Meanwhile, hearing a writ petition, justice S Abdul Nazeer said in his interim order on Sunday that the respondents were restrained from making or publishing any interim report or making any public statement pertaining to the investigation being conducted with regard to the unnatural death of DK Ravi. The petition will come up for hearing on Monday afternoon.
In the last one week, death of Ravi sparked protests across south Karnataka. Ravi was an honest officer who took on land mafia and builders, leaving doubts that he could be the target of those “influential” lobbies with vested interests. DK Ravi's mother Gowramma has also participated in protests demanding a CBI probe.
It’s likely that the government of Karnataka which was earlier reluctant to hand over the case to CBI may finally succumb to the public pressure and ask the CBI on Monday to begin investigation. Congress president Sonia Gandhi too advised the state chief minister (from the Congress) to hand over the case to CBI.
For Grammy-award winner Kej, the lyrics -- Tummbu prati manasali hosa hosa bannavaa (Fill every heart with new colours) fits well with the character of Ravi who was honest and courageous. Kej recorded the music of the song in 2009, but placed it publicly only on Sunday. The music composition for “Fill every heart with new colours” is now available on YouTube.

  1. I feel the news about his extra marital affair is totally rubbish! She must have said that under influence of those "powerful" people.
