Know Your Babu: Sameer Verma, PS to Uma Bharti and BVRC Purushottam, PS to Venkaiah Naidu

THE government on Tuesday appointed two IAS officers, Sameer Verma and BVRC Purushottam as private secretaries of union ministers Ms Uma Bharti and M Venkaiah Naidu respectively. Verma is a lawyer-turned IAS whereas Purushottam was a veterinary doctor before getting selected as an IAS. BoI here gives snapshot of the career graph of these two officers:
Sameer Verma (2002 batch UP cadre IAS)

Appointed as private secretary to minister for water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation Ms Uma Bharti.
Masters in law from Delhi University, 41-year-old Verma originally hails from the state of Madhya Pradesh where Bharti was the chief minister. As an UP cadre IAS, he served as joint magistrate in Farukhabad and Allahabad. Later, he became collectors in two districts: Mahoba and Hamirpur respectively. Currently, he is collector of UP’s Jhansi district. Verma was moved by an overwhelming voter turnout in his district, Jhansi, where seven out of 10 voters came out to vote. “Hats off to voters of jhansi and lalitpur districts — feeling fantastic”, he wrote in a social media site on April 30.

BVRC Purushottam: (2004 batch Uttaranchal cadre IAS)
Appointed as private secretary to minister for urban development and parliamentary affairs M Venkaiah Naidu.
A bachelor of veterinary science and animal husbandry before joining as IAS, Dr BVR Chandra Purushottam originally hails from the state of Andhra Pradesh. As Uttaranchal cadre IAS, he served as a joint magistrate in Nainital district and later became the chief development officer of Dehradun. He served as district magistrate in Uttarkashi too. Purushottam is 37 year old.
