Applications invited from senior officers for posts of administrative members in CAT

THE government has invited applications to fill up four vacancies of administrative members in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) that will arise next year. According to a DoPT circular issued by joint secretary Archana Varma, here are the eligibility criteria:
A person shall not be qualified for appointment as an administrative member, unless he has held for at least two years the post of secretary to the government of India or any other post under the Central or state government and carrying the scale of pay which is not less than that of a secretary to the government of India for at least two years or held a post of additional secretary to the government of India for at least five years or any other post under the Central or state government carrying the scale of pay which is not less than that of additional secretary to the government of India at least for a period of five years.
A member shall hold office for five years, extendable by one more term of five years provided that no member shall hold office after he attains the age of sixty five years.
Retired officers will be allowed to send their applications directly whereas the serving officers need to route those through the appropriate authority. The duly filled-in and neatly typed original applications should reach the Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training, North Block, New Delhi — 110001 by 05.30 pm on or before May 19, 2014.
As CAT has 17 regular benches across the country, the appointment of member in CAT shall carry all India transfer liability, the circular made it clear. That means, the selected persons are liable to be posted to any place having a bench depending on the availability of the vacancies.
It is further clarified that persons selected for appointment will have to join within 30 days from the date of issue of appointment order failing which the appointment would be cancelled.
