Research proposals invited from police officers on Anna and Ramdev agitations

FOR Indian police, there are lessons to be learned from agitations of Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev, and that arising out of Nirbhaya gang-rape case. Now, Hyderabad-based SVP National Police Academy has invited research proposals from serving and retired police officers on the following themes:
a) Meaning Peaceful Mass Agitation by Police (covering recent agitations by Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare, etc.)
b) Police Response to Sexual Offenses against Women (covering cases like Nirbhaya’s Rape case) — Making a SOP
Currently, 16 senior police officers and academicians have been pursuing research under the SVP NPA Research Projects Rules --- 2012. The Police Academy gives financial assistance for those projects. The police officers willing to undertake research on the subjects may send their proposals to the Academy. Action and Appointments
a) SK Srivastava, a 1978 batch Assam cadre IAS and secretary in the ministry of coal, has been asked to hold additional charge of the post of secretary, ministry of mines from June 29, 2013 July 14, 2013 when RH Khwaja, 1976 batch Andhra Pradesh cadre IAS will be on leave.
b) The competent authority has approved that Sudhir Mital, a 1978 batch Punjab cadre IAS and secretary in the department of fertilizers, will hold additional charge of the post of secretary, department of chemicals and petro-chemicals from June 3, 2013 to June 10, 2013 during the absence on leave of Indrajit Pal, a 1977 batch Andhra Pradesh cadre IAS.
