THE IAS Association in a social media post on Tuesday said, threatening young IAS officers working in the field is not acceptable, after a video purportedly showing BJP MLA Uday Bhan Singh threatening Agra's Kirawali sub-divisional magistrate, Garima Singh, went viral. In the video, MLA can be heard saying, “Aapko maloom nahi main vidhayak hun (Don’t you know I am an MLA)? THE IAS Association has strongly condemned the assault of its member and deputy commissioner of Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district, Sonal Swaroop, by uniformed men belonging to 2nd Arunachal Pradesh Scouts Battalion, a part of Indian armed forces. Ms Swarup, a 2012 batch IAS, was physically hit and verbally abused, the Association said in a letter to union defence secretary. IAS officers, who wield immense power in the government and also in society at large, have begun to feel that they are being physically assaulted, and on while discharging their duties, with the perpetrators getting unpunished. A FRIENDLY cricket match between IAS XI and IPS XI in Lucknow during the weekend created a row after the IPS Association attributed its officers’ victory to its "DNA", something which the IAS Association did not take very kindly.
