IF THE majority view of the 7th Central Pay Commission report submitted to the Central Government on Thursday evening is accepted, the monopoly of the IAS officers at the positions of the joint secretary and the above will end. In a fractured recommendation where one member of the commission Vivek Rae (former petroleum secretary) gave a dissenting note, chairman of the commission Justice Ashok Kumar Mathur and another member and economist Rathin Roy said that…

How government converted an April Fool joke into reality; this DA hike not fake
THE government on Tuesday converted an April Fool joke into a reality by hiking the dearness allowance (DA) by six percent, a move that will benefit 48 lakh government employees and 55 lakh pensioners. 7th Pay Commission: Should other Central services officers get an IAS salary?
THE IPS, IRS, IRTS and other Central service officers may step up their demands of getting equal pay with that of an IAS or IFS officer, as the 7th Pay Commission is now examining a pay revision that may come into effect from April 1, 2016. Satya Prasant P, an Indian Revenue Service officer who had earlier voiced his concerns about the IAS hegemony, has in his personal blog made a strong pitch for equal salary for officers belonging to all services, appealing the 7th Pay Commission to end the existing distortion. Let’s first see how much more an IAS officer gets than that of officers belonging to other services:

Party time for 3,600 officers of major port trusts as government approves pay hike
HERE’s a party time for senior officers working at major port thrusts in India . The government has approved the pay hike of Class-I and Class-II officers of major Port Trusts with a retrospective effect from January 1, 2007 .
The revision in pay scale would benefit about 3,600 officers of the 11 Major Port Trusts and Calcutta Dock Labour Board. One of the key highlights of the revision is a fitment benefit of 30% to all officers and also one level jump in the pay-scales consequent to removal of non-standard pay-scale according to guidelines issued by Department of Public Enterprise.
Also, the officers would now be able to avail the benefits of various allowances under “cafeteria” approach as prescribed for Public Sector Undertaking executives. The total financial implications involved on account this revision is about Rs 55 crore per year, but there is no budgetary consequence. The major ports will meet this additional expenditure from their own resources.
