THE Central government has repatriated five IAS officers of Uttar Pradesh cadre — all belonging to batches between 1989 and 1992 — after UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath wanted them back in the state. Uttar Pradesh has a shortage of about 100 IAS officers and the new state government wants some fresh senior officers back in Lucknow after many of of the officers wielding immense power and influence during the earlier regime were sidelined.
