Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday asked India's civil servants to be flexible, adaptable, open and dynamic, and strive to reform outdated government practices. He was interacting with the officers of 93rd foundation course at the Dr Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute, in Hyderabad. URBAN development minister M Venkaiah Naidu’s pep talk to about 130 senior officials of Nirman Bhawan three days ago might not have grabbed headlines in mainstream media, but his tough message that India can’t afford to be seen as a ‘bureaucratic nightmare’ reportedly shook the babus to an extent. After all, this is the same line prime minister Narendra Modi has taken for Indian bureaucracy. Know Your Babu: Sameer Verma, PS to Uma Bharti and BVRC Purushottam, PS to Venkaiah Naidu

Sameer Verma, IAS

THE government on Tuesday appointed two IAS officers, Sameer Verma and BVRC Purushottam as private secretaries of union ministers Ms Uma Bharti and M Venkaiah Naidu respectively. Verma is a lawyer-turned IAS whereas Purushottam was a veterinary doctor before getting selected as an IAS. BoI here gives snapshot of the career graph of these two officers:
