FIVE senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, all belonging to 1983 batch, have been granted the apex scale of pay, i.e. the salary of a Government of India secretary or Rs 2.25 lakh per month, apart from the usual perks. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Thursday approved the grant of apex scale to all those five officers with a director general rank. The five officers are:
CEO of NATGRID and Gujarat cadre IPS AK Patnaik, DG of CISF and UP cadre IPS Om Prakash Singh, special secretary in ministry of home affairs and Madhya Pradesh cadre IPS Rina Mitra, special director IB and Bihar cadre IPS SK Sinha, and DG, NSG and Rajasthan cadre IPS Sudhir Pratap Singh. Whereas for other officers, the granting of apex scale is with immediate effect, for Sudhir Pratap Singh, it would be in retrospective effect — with effect from July 1, 2017. Singh will retire in January next year. Among all these officers, Director General of CISF Om Prakash Singh will have the longest term, as he retires only on January 31, 2020.
Meanwhile, the government has appointed Shashank Anand, a 2006 batch Haryana cadre IPS as superintendent of police (security and traffic) in union territory of Chandigarh on inter-cadre deputation, for three years.
In an unrelated development, R Anand, 1994 batch Indian Postal Service (IPoS) officer and executive director in Handloom Export Promotion Council, Chennai has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre so that he can avail of his promotion.
